With qualifications of Systematic Financial Modeling and Equity Transactions received in London by the EBRD, and qualifications received in Washington under the leadership of World Bank teams and capital market regulation. Deputy Mayor Barbalov has accumulated experience as a senior banker in the municipal infrastructure and environment of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). He has also worked as a Project and Infrastructure Specialist at the World Bank and a US Agency for International Development (TI CASA) project specialist.

PhD in Microbiology from University of Extremadura (Spain) and Postdoc at the University of Minnesota (USA). Additionally, he is Master in International R&D programs management from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain). He is an expert in Genetics and Molecular Biology and his research has been focused on human fungal diseases. He has developed his career in USA, India, Germany and Spain. Author of several articles published in scientific journals as well as book chapters. He has participated as researcher and principal investigator in several research projects and coordinator in both national and international scientific activities. He has also received several postdoctoral fellowships and other awards by the Regional Government and the Federation of European Microbiological Societies; FEMS. He has been adjunct professor at the University of Extremadura and currently holds the position of Head of RDI Department at FundeSalud (Government of Extremadura). His principal aim is to promote research, innovation and internationalization in the health and social system in the autonomous region of Extremadura.

He studied at Vienna University of Economics and Business as well as at Stockholm School of Economics and holds professional licences for Certified (Austrian) Tax Consultant and Certified (Austrian) Public Accountant.

He has more than ten years of experience in tax and financial controlling projects varying from the medical and pharmaceutical sector to outsourced entities of the public sector as well as charitable and other non-profit organizations.

Maria Radeva, PhD is a Master of Law (1998) and Master of Master Public Health and Health Management (2008).

In 2014 she takes a doctor’s degree. She is an Assistant professor in the Law Faculty of Ruse University and gives lectures on Social Security Law, Medical Law, Social and Health Legislation.

Between 2003 and 2010 she is a legal adviser in Ruse Regional Health Insurance Fund. She is a lawyer in the field of Administrative Law and Administrative Procedures, Labor Law and Social Security Law, Medical Law.

She is an author of two books and more than 40 articles and reports.

Among others I have been Head of Finance and Accounting Department of Tokushukai-Sofia, Member of the Board of Directors of Tokuda Hospital Service, Procurator of Tokuda Hospice, CFO of ProDuCt – Project Development Consulting, and Member of the Supervisory Board of Cooperative Clinical Drug Research and Development (CCDRD), based in Berlin, Germany, etc.

I am also a Co-founder of TIDIT, Clarion Ventures, and Bulgarian Business Angels Network.

I hold two Master Degrees – in Financial Management and in Bank Management and have taken a number of post-graduate trainings in Corporate Finance, Financial Analysis, Strategic Management, Project Management, Financial Planning and Modelling in Bulgaria, Japan and Germany.

  • Project manager of a BGN 51 million project under the HRD OP – in the field of training;
  • Project Coordinator under the HRD OP – in the area of ​​employment and in the sphere of the social-health services;
  • Develops project proposals under the “Smart Growth Science and Education” Operational Program – the latter was submitted for the construction of a Center for Excellence in the field of health and biotechnology industry for BGN 70 million;
  • Develops project proposals under the Operational Program “Innovation and Competitiveness” in the field of health care industry and others;
  • Develops project proposals under the Operational Program “Human Resources Development” – in the field of employment, social activities, etc.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of projects under different national programs;
  • Develops projects to various donor programs.

She is working at Simbula Ltd. as Head of European Projects department.
